Hamburger Buns
These buns are the perfect complement to any BBQ. They are a light fluffy texture, and are a slim size so they don't overwhelm all the goodness on the inside. These buns are also gluten free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, and nut free!
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup + 2 TBSP warm water
- 1 TBSP honey
- 3/4 tsp yeast
- 1 ⅛ cup Sun Flour Mills Rolls & Sandwich Bread Mix
- 1 flax egg (1 TBSP ground flaxseed + 2 ½ TBSP water)
- 1 ½ TBSP oil
- ¼ tsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Proof Yeast
- MIX together the warm water, honey, and yeast to a large mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes. Yeast should become foamy if active. (If not - discard and try with new yeast)
Make the Flax Egg
- COMBINE 1 TBSP ground flaxseed and 2½ TBSP water into a small bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until thickened.
Make the Dough
- ADD the flax egg, oil, and vinegar to the yeast mixture and whisk to combine.
- ADD the Rolls & Sandwich Bread Mix and blend with a mixer for 2 minutes.
- GREASE a baking sheet with non-stick spray. Using wet hands shape ¼ of the dough into a patty shape. Continue until you have 4 patties of dough. Place on baking sheet and use damp hands to shape/smooth the buns. *You can add sesame seeds here - if you would like sesame buns.
- RISE uncovered in a warm place for 1 hour.
- PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden on top. Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
This recipe can be used with an egg in place of the flax egg.
These buns are excellent toasted.
